Depends on how many gem you got. If you have around 25000 laying around then you got a shot. For most f2p players, the most points that they can get is around 5-6000 points.

As far as I know, UTOTY will cost 400 Tokens ONLY AFTER you claimed UTOTY for the first time (by claiming 3 for add/mid and 5 for def TOTY players).
That being said, before you claim the first UTOTY Player using the above method, 400 tokens offer will never be open.

MLS is only suitable for starters. As the season goes on, we must prioritize players from the big leagues (Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, and so on) because in terms of OVR and Chemistry they are easier to build.

No one knows for sure who will be more expensive. This is all about supply and demand. If I tell you Robertson will be the most profitable for example, and then you and all readers of this site follow my advice, at the end of the event maybe Robertson’s price will be cheaper than other TOTY players because the supply is higher than most.

As you say, Defender has higher values than attacker .But let me take example. What if you get Messi then you also get Ronaldo or Neymar (91/92 OVR) and if you get Virgil Van Dijk(95 OVR : probably) then extra player will be 89 OVR player. Then i think comparatively value of attackers are high enough than defenders. Isn’t it?
That’s way I said “plan your strategy as best you can, don’t rush using TOTY Points before Midfielder and Defender arrive so you can make the best possible plan to get the maximum possible rewards”. I wrote this guide on day 1, so I don’t know what VVD and other defenders OVRs are.
I’m not guarantee the defenders will sell more than Attackers/Midfielders because it’s all depending on supply and demand, OVR, Skill Boosts (VVD skill boost are worst than last year), Stats, and so on.
And as a note, last year as I remember, Midfielder arrived 3 days after Attackers, and Defenders arrived 3 days after Midfielders. Now, they arrived only the day after.
